On April 18, 2024 Elon Musk posted this ‘Wokipedia’-meme in response to yet another example of censorship on Wikipedia (1,2). This article contains two short video-excerpts. First there is an example of the censorship practices of wikipedia in the case of Naomi Wolf (3) and then we give the floor to Katherine Maher who is the former CEO of Wikipedia. She tells us how she and her team of moderators worked hard to remove all disinformation from wikipedia, under government guidance.
THE CASE OF NAOMI WOLF
We already introduced Naomi Wolf in another article (3). This renowned multi-bestseller author was deplatformed overnight because she tweeted about women who were mentioning menstrual symptoms after taking the covid-vaccine. In the excerpt below you can hear her describe how all this happened and how her wikipedia page changed during the night as well.
You can still see how the first sentence of her wikipedia page reads: “Naomi Rebekah Wolf (born 1962) is an American feminist author, journalist, and conspiracy theorist. (5) “. The end of her introduction reads: “Wolf has objected to COVID-19 lockdowns and criticized COVID-19 vaccines. In June 2021, her Twitter account was suspended (6) for posting anti-vaccine misinformation.” (7)
FORMER CEO OF WIKIPEDIA KATHERINE MAHER
In the excerpt below you can hear Katherine Maher confirm that wikipedia took a ‘very active approach to disinformation and misinformation. She explains how they set up a model that would allow “the editing community to identify threats early on, to conversations with governments of course as well as other platform operators.” She mentions topics like the pandemic and the US Elections as examples. I think the woke position on Ukraine would also fit nicely within this (woke) Wikipedia model (9)
CONCLUSION
Well, we had already discovered that Google is not really the place to be to get neutral search results (11), and now it is has becoming quite clear that Wikipedia is also heavily infected by the woke virus. It’s a good thing to keep this in mind whenever you are trying to do your own research on internet: avoid google and wokipedia whenever you can.
