This website not only functions as a study platform for the ways of the Deep State, it is also meant as an introduction for people who are new to this concept altogether. It often touches upon all kinds of aspects as a way to inspire people to do some more digging themselves.

One of the characteristics of Deep State Structures is their tendency to cherish secrecy. Another one is their desire to manipulate the citizens into thinking what they want the people to think. This is done by censoring unwanted opinions and voice on the one hand, and by forcing their own narratives into the minds of the people on the other hand.

Censorship and propaganda are good indicators for a higher ‘Deep State Index’. The mere fact that the European Union has censored Russian media like ‘RT’ since March 2022 for European citizens adds to their high position in the Deep State Charts (1,2).

OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD
In a recent post, Pepe Escobar (3,13) used the terms ‘desperate Mockingbird media’ to refer to the operation run by the CIA and it seems that he is sure that the influencing of the Main Stream Media is still very current. A lot has been written about this CIA Operation and there seems to be a general consensus that this operation was very real. Here’s a nice introduction:

“Operation Mockingbird, launched in the 1950s, was a covert CIA initiative designed to influence and control media outlets, both domestically and internationally. The agency aimed to manipulate news stories, shape public opinion, and disseminate propaganda, all in the name of combating the spread of communism. Through a web of journalists, editors, and even entire publications on the CIA’s payroll, the agency effectively sought to guide public discourse in a manner aligned with its political agenda.

The Manipulation of Truth

One of the most alarming aspects of Operation Mockingbird was its ability to distort the truth. Journalists, often unaware of their CIA ties, unknowingly became mouthpieces for the agency’s narratives. Stories were slanted, facts were manipulated, and dissenting voices were silenced. As a result, the American public was fed a distorted version of reality, blurring the lines between genuine journalism and government propaganda.” (4)

SOME REFLECTIONS
Although we have relatively spent little time on the main stream media so far, it seems quite likely that the powers that be want to control the narratives. Censorship and propaganda are rampant. So, I would say that the concepts behind Operation Mockingbird are still very vibrant, but they are confronted with social media that are not as easily controlled as they would like to.
