In a post on June 22, 2024, Elon Musk once again showed his support for Citizen Journalism (1). In the excerpt below you can hear Musk say the following: “A lot of things that traditional journalists don’t like being put on the same platform as the average citizen. They don’t like their voice being the same. They are pretty mad about that.
I think it is very important to elevate citizen journalism. I think it is very important to hear the voice of the people, the actual voice of the people and not the filtered voice of the people.
And let the people choose the narrative and let the people determine the truth and not five editors in chief of major publications (6). Do you want to know what is really going on, or do you want their opinion?” (1)
Elon Musk has proven to be very valuable when it comes to defending free speech by buying Twitter and transforming the platform from a nearly state-controlled platform into a place where people are allowed to share their thoughts freely.
