During the debate between President Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on September 10, 2024 (1), Trump mentioned that in Springfield, Ohio, Haitians were eating cats. He was ridiculed for that, but he obviously didn’t make that up. Elon Musk showed a few videos that backup the story brought by Trump (2,3).

The video in this post shows the daughter of a Haitian immigrant from the late 1960s, who tells us that people in Haiti are the poorest people in the Western hemisphere and they have actually resorted to eating cats to survive. She also says that animal sacrifices are performed as part of all kinds of voodoo practices (3,6).

He also has something to add about the fraudulent ways Haitians are given temporary driver licenses and some other particularities of these immigrants (7).

Here’s a short fragment from a video in which a Haitian migrant says that it is a very common thing to do in Haiti, to eat cats, but not dogs. Listen to this fragment from a longer interview (9).
