On the day that Iran retaliated after the provocations by the Israeli army in Lebanon (1), I got to meet the diplomat Folke Bernadotte. He was assigned as the UN Security Council mediator in the Palestine-Israel war back in 1948. During the second world war he had personally saved 31,000 people from Nazi Germany.
When he filed a report to the UN in which he described the devastated Palestinian villages he saw and the killings, he wanted to make a plan that would allow the Palestinians to return to their homes, on land that had belonged to them for centuries.
A day later he was killed by some Zionist group. They obviously didn’t like his peaceful approach. Below you can watch a short report on this rather sad story about Folke Bernadotte, who surely wasn’t the last one to die because of the rage of the Zionists.
