The scandal surrounding the rather ridiculous spendings of the organization ”formerly known’ as ‘United States Agency for International Development‘ (1-3, 11), seems to have triggered Canada to hide their expenses in their own variant of USAID: Global Affairs Canada. At the moment of writing you can read the following text, written in red: “Project Browser may still be experiencing performance slowdowns, however all data is available. We thank you for your understanding as technicians work to resolve this situation.” (4)

WHAT IS HIDING IN CANADA’S FOREIGN AID CLOSET?
I ran into this item because of a tweet by Jim Ferguson (5). So, it appears that indeed the public cannot access all the spendings by Global Affairs Canada. But, fortunately we have the Internet Archive and that website has stored very recent copies of Canada’s spendings on ‘Foreign Aid’ (10). You can access it yourself. Let me give you a few examples, to give you an idea:

I scrolled a bit through some of the 174 pages. There seems to be a lot of projects to combat hunger, lack of education en medical assistance. It might be interesting to see on what projects enormous amounts of Canadian money is spent on.

Would they really be hiding the information, or is just a coincidence that this information is unavailable right after the USAID-Gate made headlines?

It turns out that our Canadian USAID-variant also sponsors the BBC, just like their American counterpart (12).
