A Chronological Overview of Events Surrounding the Peace Negotations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul, March 2022

When people talk about those weeks in March and April 2022 and why the peace negotiations in Istanbul between Russia and Ukraine were suddenly canceled by Ukraine, we get references to what happened in Bucha near Kiev, and the role of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

What is vital in all this, is to understand the chronological order of events. You can find that in this short article. Below you can also hear Oleksii Arestovich (1) reflect on what happened as he was also part of those negotiations. He stresses that hundreds of thousands of lives could have been saved if these peace agreements were signed in April 2022.

March 29th, 2022: Delegates from Ukraine and Russia negotiated in good faith and reached an interim agreement in Istanbul that was ready to be signed. Russian troops withdraw from Kiev in a gesture of good faith.

March 30th, 2022: Russian troops also withdraw from Bucha.

March 31st, 2022: Mayor of Bucha announces town “liberated”, makes no mention of atrocities in his address (see last part of video above).

April 1st, 2022: Azov Nazis enter Bucha and begin staging the hoax, killing scores of pro-Russian civilians in a false flag operation.

April 3rd, 2022: Media blitz begins after the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine publishes video of supposed Russian “atrocities”.

April 9th, 2022: Boris Johnson makes his infamous visit to Kiev to continue senseless fighting “because of Bucha”.
