Ursula von der Leyen Introduces ‘Prebunking’ as the Ultimate Censorship Tool

Censorship has always been popular to make sure that people don’t get the wrong ideas in their heads. Right after the war started in Ukraine the EU censored Russian news outlets, in order to protect us from Russian propaganda. A few more outlets were added in May 2024 (1).

We also got to know the CIA program Operation Mockingbird that was used to make sure journalists would write the things the governments wanted them to write (2). We have seen how Google made a deal with the United Nations in order to manipulate their search results (3). We have seen the misinformation that was used by the US government to start two wars on Iraq (4).

Then there was the extreme censorship by government agencies through Twitter (5) and the current attempt by US Congress to ban Tiktok (6). All because the government wants to control what their citizens think.

In the excerpt below we can hear our unelected chairman of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen (7) boast about her new plan to censor European citizens. She introduces the term ‘prebunking’ to distinguish it from debunking. In order to explain this she uses one of her favorite metaphors: vaccination (8).

She is making the point that an unwanted piece of misinformation can be compared to a virus. It is better to prevent (through prebunking) such an unwanted piece of information to ever reach a person, than it is to remove such an idea from a person’s mind once the virus has already entered the mind system of a European citizen (through debunking)

That is why she wants to introduce a kind of Information shield in order to protect us (9).
