There is a worldwide trend of lowering fertility rates. In fact many countries are below the birth rate needed to replace the people in a country. This replacement-rate stands at 2.1 children per woman. As you can see in the above picture (and in the graph in the video below) much of the current world has a fertility rate lower than 2.1. Taiwan (1.09) and South Korea (1.11) have the lowest fertility rate and African countries like Niger (6.73) and Angola (5.76) have the highest (1) (as of 2023).

In my home country, the Netherlands we have a mortality rate that is higher than the birth rate (4). So there are actually more people dying than are being born. This didn’t happen since the year 1900.
We have spoken a bit about fertility in connection to the Covid-vaccine (6). We also showed some developments in the maternal mortality (7). Larry Fink gave a reason why he thought it could be a positive thing to have decreasing populations (8).
