Lowest CO2-Levels in the last 600 Million Years

In the documentary Climate: The Movie (1) we are given an overview of the level of carbon dioxide in the air the last 600 million years. As you can see we are currently at one of the lowest levels ever. The information is based on the Geocarb III records (2).

In the above excerpt you can hear dr. Matthew Wielicki say that the levels of CO2 are now at about 420 parts per million, whereas we would see levels of 7000 parts per million in the last 450 million years, resulting in a much greener world with much more biodiversity. In fact it would be more appropriate to say that we are now suffering from a CO2-famine.

We have seen something similar when it comes to world temperatures (4). The link between CO2 and temperature also tends to be the other way around, in the sense that CO2 levels tend to rise as a result of a rise in temperature (5).
