One of the main reasons to force all kinds of (expensive and profitable) measures upon the people these days is the Climate Change Narrative. With Greta ‘How Dare you’ Thurnberg (1) as the symbol for this we are led to believe that we and the whole world are heading for the ultimate disaster.
One of the key arguments is that the global temperatures rise in an unprecedented way. We have recently seen that when you look at the world temperatures from a multi-million years perspectives, we are actually now in one of the coolest periods (2,3).
The 2024 documentary ‘Climate: the Movie‘ (3) presents us with another explanation for this alleged enormous rise in world temperatures: the Urban Heat Island Effect.
As is neatly explained in the excerpt below, this effect boils down to the following: thermometers that were once placed outside of towns and cities, remained on the same place, even though the cities expanded to incorporate those thermometers. The effect of concrete, houses, buildings and parking lots has contributed significantly to the alleged rise of world temperatures.
In order to circumvent this ‘Urban Heat Island Effect‘ Dr. Willie Soon (4) only used rural thermometers and what he found was rather astonishing: the temperatures are now only slightly higher than in the 1940s with a significant decrease in temperatures up until 1976 (3).
In the documentary you can also hear about temperature measures on sea and from satellites, all showing only minor changes and the same variability as Dr. Soon saw when he used only rural thermometer data (3).
